CGI Federal Inc. has won a five-year contract worth $5.7 million to upgrade the health information exchange program at the Health and Human Services Department.

The Federal Health Architecture initiative, managed by HHS’ Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, made the award, CGI Federal said in its May 24 announcement.

The contract, which includes four one-year options, will support FHA's Connect Nationwide Health Information Exchange Gateway Solution.

Connect is the most widely adopted open-source gateway software solution used by public and private entities to exchange health information in a secure, interoperable manner, according to CGI.
