Open Source Trends and Business Models

This report on"Open Source Trends and Business Models" was prepared back in 2006 for the Ireland's National Policy and Advisory Board for Enterprise, Trade, Science, Technology and Innovation. The goals of the report were to:

• Provide an overview of those open source commercialisation models most suited to the Irish context; and
• Provide an overview of the legal implications resulting from the use of different licensing models in an open source context.

Several case studies of organisations commercialising software via open source are provided. Business strategies, tactics, and business models are discussed in some detail
