Alan Vaughan is a writer and laboratory informatics expert who has also worked in a variety of technical roles. He was a technical team leader during the inception of the national Channel 5 TV channel in the UK, becoming a Senior Technical Support Advisor and Training Manager at Granada UK, Britain's leading commercial broadcast and television production conglomerate, based at corporate HQ in Bedford. During the tech startup boom in 2000 Alan relocated to the US to provide IT services to small businesses.
Alan subsequently returned to senior training roles as a corporate software trainer and training consultant, researching technical applications and systems, creating training programs and delivering online and in-person training. He also set up and configured screens and installations for enterprise software clients, working with SQL queries, WIN NT, AS/400. Delphi and other logic constructs tools.
He has worked for the last 14 years in the laboratory informatics industry in various roles including research, training and documentation, sales, marketing, support and implementation, as a lecturer and Subject Matter Expert across all industries. As a co-founder of the Laboratory Informatics Institute, he has actively promoted open information sharing and general advancement of the laboratory industry and all involved in the scientific, medical and informatics community. Alan now works as a consultant on various projects, with most recent concentration in the cannabis science industry. Alan has a BS in Journalism from Virginia Commonwealth University, METRC certification and has authored a number of published articles and books.
