Ewan Davis is a Director of Woodcote Consulting and has worked in Healthcare Informatics since 1981. He is a Health Informatics Strategist with substantial senior management and consultancy experience with broad knowledge across the health care and health informatics domains including policy, practice, process and informatics. He works predominately at a strategic level but has a good understanding of underpinning science, tools and technology. Ewan has unsurpassed networks in the world of health informatics.
Ewan was founder and Managing Director of AAH Meditel (A leading GP Supplier) from 1987 to its sale to Torex in 1999. He was also Group Managing Director of AAH’s Computer Services Division and Chairman of Peak Systems (A leading Community Systems Supplier) and PharMed (Later TransScript – An ETP specialist owned by Celesio AG the owners of AAH).
Ewan is a professional member of the British Computer Society and is past Treasurer of BCS Health and a past Chairman of the Primary Healthcare Specialists Group of which he remain an active committee member. While Chairman of the PHCSG Ewan was also a member of the BMA/RCGP Joint GP IT Committee.
Ewan has been an active member of the trade association, Intellect and its predecessor bodies (CSSA and CSA) since 1981 and is currently member of its Healthcare Council. He was Chairman of the CSSA Primary Health Care Group from 1996-99 was a founder member of the Intellect Health Care Council and has served as its Vice Chairman.
Since Joining Woodcote Consulting, Ewan’s clients have included the Department of Health, NHS Connecting for Health, The NHS Information Centre, BT Health, The Royal College of GPs, The Royal Pharmaceutical Society, various Universities, local authorities and a number of Pharmaceutical and Informatics companies.
Ewan is one of the founders of HANDI a new not-for-profit venture set up to support the developers of health and care apps. Ewan has a particular interest in the use of open data and open source software in health care and how sustainable business models can be built around open platforms. www.handihealth.org and is a Director of www.openGPSoC.org another not-for-profit venture set up to create an Open GP IT ecosystem that provides a open platform for a mixed economy of open source and proprietary products and services.
Ewan’s particular areas of expertise include: Electronic Health Records, Information Governance, Web 2.0 and 3.0 in Health, Health and Care Apps, Clinical Content Management, Primary Care, Primary Care Informatics, Pharmacy, ePrescribing and the Electronic Transfer of Prescriptions.
