careMESH to Participate in the CMS Electronic Medical Documentation Interoperability Program
Reston, VA - February 8, 2019 -careMESH®, the only service provider that guarantees 100% digital delivery of referrals and care transitions to any healthcare organization nationwide, announced today that it has joined the Electronic Medical Documentation Interoperability (EMDI) program of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The EMDI program supports the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) standards and interoperability programs by expanding the secure electronic exchange of health information in accordance with nationally recognized standards. The program aims to increase interoperability and communication between providers and reduce administrative burden for clinicians and their support staff.
Under the program, careMESH will partner with a hospital to leverage its existing Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to deliver digital referrals and care transitions to post-acute healthcare providers. Receiving clinicians will be able to reply to the sender, save patient records to their own EHR, and close referral loops through automated workflow tools. This allows both the hospital and the receiving providers they interact with to:
- Move from paper-and fax-based processes to automated digital processes.
- Achieve Meaningful Use / Promoting Interoperability measures for health information exchange.
- Create a network of unaffiliated organizations that are more likely to refer and transition patients to each other with a more cost-effective mechanism.
"careMESH is the only service provider that guarantees to deliver a referral, care transition, patient record, message, or image to any other provider in the country, digitally. If they have an NPI number, we promise to get it there" said Dr. Peter Tippett, Founder and CEO of careMESH. "Because careMESH fully complies with HIPAA regulations and strongly validates the identity of a recipient before they can access digital information, every careMESH transaction is highly secure."
Added Dr. Tippett: "The EMDI program is perfectly aligned with current real-world uses of careMESH. Our customers not only keep patient records off of the fax machine, but we help them achieve their health information exchange measure and incentive payments under the CMS Meaningful Use/Promoting Interoperability program."
careMESH will be conducting live demonstrations of its services platform in the Innovation Live Pavilion, exhibit #9000-71 at HIMSS 2019 in Orlando, FL on February 12th - 14th.
