Open Source in Health Care Explored at HC 2011 - Book Now

Press Release | HC 2011 | March 22, 2011

There will be a series of case studies on the subject from across the UK, with the session chaired by Professor John Chelsom. The case studies include using open source to predict those who are likely to need hospital admission by Ian Trischler, NHS Islington, and Ben Tebbs from Pentaho, along with an insight into an open source clinical portal with Sean Connolly from Restart Consulting and a representative from Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust. Finally, Alex Toft from NHS CfH will present a case study called Mirth Connect - the Swiss army knife of health care data integration.

There will also be a view from the DH Informatics Doctorate presented by Paul Jones, CTO, Department of Health.

This year, openness will also be the topic of the final debate of the conference‘How do we deal with the tension between opening up data and delivering effective services?’ It will be chaired by Alastair McLellan, Editor of the Health Service Journal, with a panel of leading lights from the DH/NHS, the supplier market, private and voluntary (third) sector and patient and the public representatives. This will wrap up the major theme of the whole event looking at how information requirements will change for the service, patients and the public.

There’s still time to register and take advantage of the special rates for BCS members. The two and three day registrations include a ticket to the Conference Gala Dinner on Wednesday, 6 April.
