Arlington, VA – The Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA) and the VISTA Expertise Network announced today that they will collaborate in a special technical meeting regarding the future of the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA), the electronic health record system utilized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and other healthcare providers worldwide.

The special session, entitled Future VistA: A Technical Town Hall, will be chaired by Rick Marshall, the Network’s Executive Director, as part of the 2014 OSEHRA Open Source Summit to be held September 3–5 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center, just outside of Washington, D.C. “VistA remains one of the premier electronic health record systems in the world,” said Marshall, “and this session will address a number of key initiatives that will make it even more effective.” The session will be aimed at experienced VistA developers, and it will be presented in a town hall format for maximum interaction.

Seong K. Mun, President of OSEHRA, commented, “Our Summit is the perfect venue for this collaborative technical session. We expect senior VistA developers from VA and around the world to attend, and we are delighted to partner with the VISTA Expertise Network to design such an in-depth technical event. The Network’s VistA experience and capability are unsurpassed, and we are proud to have them as an OSEHRA Corporate Member.”
