“Middleware Makes Healthcare” Campaign is Launched at mHealth Summit

December 8, 2014 – National Harbor, MD — Zoeticx, Inc., the developer of medical software that bridges the gap between medical data and quality patient care, today announced its’ “Middleware Makes Healthcare” campaign at the mHealth Summit, December 7-11, Booth # 122-21.

The initiative is designed to create awareness to the fact that EHR interoperability is available now through middleware. The campaign’s goal is to unite EHR manufacturers, developers, CIOs, CMOs, hospitals, government organizations, investors and medical app developers in standardizing on middleware as the backbone of EHR interoperability.

Zoeticx will kick off the “Middleware Makes Healthcare” campaign at mHealth with a press launch and “EHR Connectivity Clinic” depicting the many benefits of interoperability. The company plans to target the medical and IT industries along with investors and partners throughout 2015 with a variety of marketing tactics to bring awareness to middleware as the solution to interoperability.

“A middleware architecture has been shown to be the best technological solution for addressing the problem of EHR interoperability. This design facilitates the transparent, yet secure, access of patient health data, directly from the various databases where it is stored. A server-based middleware framework supporting access to the various patient health data stores allows for a scalable, unified and standardized platform for applications to be developed upon. The middleware architectural design has been successfully used in financial, retail, manufacturing and other market segments to link data from multiple databases, irrespective to the database platform or where the database is located,” said Donald M. Voltz, MD, Department of Anesthesiology and Medical Director of the Main Operating Room at a non-profit hospital in Canton, OH. He is also an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Case Western Reserve University and Northeast Ohio Medical University.

Middleware is the Heart of Zoeticx Connectivity

Zoeticx uses middleware as the heart of its Healthcare Oriented Architecture (HOA) software, enabling medical institutions to seamlessly connect multiple EMRs, resulting in a convenient, consistent and universal view of patient records from a single platform, regardless of where they reside.

The Zoeticx HOA resides within Zoeticx’s powerful Patient-Clarity server and can transparently connect to any EMR database. The server drives the collaborative “smart” hub for Zoeticx’s own suite of Care applications–CareIntelligence, CareSynergy, CareHistory and CareCompliance, developed with the middleware inherent in the Patient-Clarity server.

Middleware also enables Zoeticxs’ open API to be used without concerns about specific EHR connectivity by medical industry software developers wanting to build applications requiring access to patient records from multiple, disparate databases. This connectivity provides medical app entrepreneurs with a multitude of benefits, from faster development and deployment to lower costs.

Eliminating Silent Silos of Passive Data

The HOA platform is the antidote to the lack of interoperability between proprietary EHR software deployed at most medical facilities and the key to eliminating IT departments’ “silent silos” of passive data. Its middleware software enables Zoeticx to generate active, real-time data for analysis and collaboration between medical professionals as opposed to batch processed data.

The real-time active data flows information to the right caregiver at the right time to improve patient outcomes. It uses a ‘push’ communication system capable of sending notifications and alerts to specific care providers with built in escalation procedures to insure follow-up.

Eliminates the Need for Data Duplication

Zoeticx’s HOA eliminates the need for any data duplication, an ideal alternative to the more cumbersome Health Information Exchange’s (HIEs) approach that requires on-going data duplication, synchronization and monitoring currency of the HIE data. Zoeticx gateways also enable medical facilities to avoid spending resources monitoring the software currency of multiple EMR vendors.

End to “Rip and Replace”

Most healthcare organizations choose a best of breed EMR that suits their needs, but often only results in creating data silos. Zoeticx bridges the gap between these heterogeneous systems. It effectively ends the costly practice of “ripping and replacing” duplicative IT systems when medical organizations consolidate, a trend that shows strong continuation in 2015.

“Zoeticx believes middleware is the technology to drive change, innovation and disruptive transformation to solve EHR interoperability challenges,” said Thanh Tran, Zoeticx Co-Founder and CEO. “We base our products’ success and our reputation on it, but most importantly patient’s lives in some cases will depend on it, and believe it will help bring to an end the more than 1,000 patients who die daily from preventable medical errors.”

Zoeticx products are engineered using the latest mobile, cloud, and SOA technology. Zoeticx solutions are available from the Apple Store.

About Zoeticx

Zoeticx offers software solutions for the healthcare industry which are dedicated to improving patient outcomes, enhancing the quality of care, containing costs, and simplifying administration. These solutions offer an immediate increase in the quality of care by delivering the right information to the right caregiver at the right time, in a manner that can be easily understood. Additionally, as the Affordable Care Act continues to roll out, healthcare providers will face new challenges which arise whenever there is a transition from an old system of doing business to a new one. Zoeticx helps solve those challenges, allowing care providers to focus on what is most important, the patient.
