Open source is becoming more and more prevalent in clinical trials, introducing an innovative way to save costs while keeping high clinical data quality and security. With over 10,000 users, clinical open source EDC systems are a strong example of the tremendous value clinical open source software can bring to the clinical trial process of pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies. Eric Morrie will share his expertise in open source for clinical trials.

Eric is currently the Manager of Clinical Programming and joined Abbott Vascular in March 2010.  He previously worked for Bausch + Lomb in Rochester, NY, providing process and systems implementation for clinical operations, data management, regulatory affairs, and global product safety. His experience in academic research at the University of Rochester Medical Center utilized numerous open source tools in the conduct of clinical trials. He has worked in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, and medical device industry for over 15 years. He has a Masters in Business Administration and Bachelors in Engineering Science from the University of Rochester.

Marc Desgrousilliers, VP of Technical Operations, Clinovo

Marc will conduct the webinar. He will introduce the topic with an overview of the existing open source systems for clinical  trials and explain their benefits and concerns.

Marc Desgrousilliers joined Clinovo in 2010. He has over 20 years experience in software and engineering. His technical expertise includes developing patented  technologies in storage and network management. He has worked with both  startups and large international companies  throughout the Silicon Valley, including VERITAS where Marc ran a large world- wide engineering organization, and Microsoft  where he lead the development of most of the network management services  on Windows.
