The 2nd Global Risk Forum (GRF) One Health Summit 2013 which will take place from 17 - 20 November 2013 at the Davos Congress Centre in Davos, Switzerland. The Summit will further explore, advance and agree on the need for a global integrative risk management approach for One Health. Furthermore, the conference will identify ways to achieve added value by multi-sectorial and multi-stakeholder cooperation and promote enhanced public-private partnership models for risk-based financing tools. The findings of the conference shall be used to make recommendations on policy and organisational changes and stimulate a more efficient collaboration between stakeholders.

About the One Health concept

The One Health concept promotes an integrated approach to public health, reflecting the interconnectedness of a larger ecological system.It is a worldwide strategy for expanding interdisciplinary collaborations and communications in all aspects of health care for humans, animals and the environment. The synergism achieved will advance health care for the 21st century and beyond by accelerating biomedical research discoveries, enhancing public health efficacy, expeditiously expanding the scientific knowledge base, and improving medical education and clinical care.

HRH Princess Chulabhorn of Thailand confirms attendance

It is with great honour that we can confirm Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn, the youngest child of Their Majesties King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit of Thailand’s attendance at the 2nd GRF One Health Summit 2013  in Davos, Switzerland from 17 - 20 November 2013. The Princess will officially open the conference. Her presence at the conference hereby emphasises the importance of the One Health approach for global health. Professor Dr. HRH Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol, is also founding President of the Chulabhorn Research Institute. She is a qualified scientist and has always attached the greatest importance to the role of science in social and economic development, and accordingly originally conceived the idea of creating a national institute to assist in the development of Thailand. 

The GRF One Health Summit provides vast opportunities for networking, knowledge and experience exchange and first-hand information. Take stock of what has already been achieved through co-ordinated multi-sectorial approaches so far and learn which strategies prove most effective.
