Joint DoD, VA EHR Agreement is for Common Architecture, Data and Data Centers

A senior Defense Department official revealed a few more details about what the joint DoD and Veterans Affairs Department electronic health record system will look like while testifying April 6 before a House panel.

VA Secretary Eric Shinseki announced March 31 that the two departments have come to agreement on developing a joint EHR, but offered few details on what the joint platform will look like.

DoD Deputy Chief Management officer Elizabeth McGrath told the House Armed Services subcommittee on emerging threats and capabilities that the gist of the agreement is to utilize a "common architecture, common data services and data centers."
