VA Health Care Is Good for Me and Would Be Good For You, Too

The VA VistA system is so much better than any private medical records system I’ve experienced as a patient that it totally shows anyone who claims all important advances come from the profit motive is a liar.

You’d think HCA/Columbia hospitals (the biggest chain of Pain Profiteer hospitals in America, I believe) would lead the way in efficient records management. But no. You go to their Bradenton, FL, Blake Medical Center‘s records department and it’s a warren of unfiled paper folders with too few harassed looking women trying to sort through them.

At the Bradenton VA clinic or the regional VA Bay Pines Medical Center in St. Petersburg, the docs, nurses, and other staff can call my records up on a screen in less than a second. After years of watching docs page through semi-organized, hand-scrawled medical records, the VA system in action is amazing.

But convenience isn’t the REAL reason I’m an eMed booster...
