Norma Morganti | Government Health IT | May 2, 2011
This spring, students graduating workforce training programs at 84 community colleges across the country will be ready to help primary care physicians deploy and meaningfully use EHRs for patient benefit. The Community College Consortia is part of a national collaborative workforce development program sponsored through the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT and funded through HITECH.
Working with a broad and rigorous curriculum developed by four-year institutions -- Oregon Health and Science University, Duke, Columbia, Johns Hopkins and University of Alabama at Birmingham -- we are training to support provider implementation and to close the gap on the existing shortfall of 50,000 plus Health IT workers across the nation.
