Some In Canada Longing For ONC-Esque Policies, Researcher Says

The conclusion of a recent study on Canadian and U.S. health IT policy might’ve come from the department of obvious: “successful health information exchange depends on policies that set clear goals and outline intended effects of HIT implementation without being overly prescriptive, and defines frameworks for guiding policy improvement in a continual and systematic manner,” the authors wrote in the International Journal of Medical Informatics.

Canadian and U.S. health IT policy haven’t always followed that framework, though, said study co-author, Yeona Jang, a business and IT professor at McGill University.
