OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a free and open digital publication of high quality university‐level educational materials.  These materials are organized as courses, and often include course planning materials and evaluation tools as well as thematic content. Useful for medical education and training.

OpenDataKit (ODK)

Open Data Kit (ODK) is a free and open-source set of tools which help organizations author, field, and manage mobile data collection solutions. ODK provides an out-of-the-box solution for users to:

  •     Build a data collection form or survey;
  •     Collect the data on a mobile device and send it to a server; and
  •     Aggregate the collected data on a server and extract it in useful formats.

In addition to socio-economic and health surveys with GPS locations and images, ODK is being used to create decision support for clinicians and for building multimedia-rich nature mapping tools. It is an ongoing research project by the Change Group at the University of Washington. Read More »

OpenELIS is a robust Enterprise Laboratory Information System built around an extensible and scalable framework. OpenELIS is designed and developed through the collaborative efforts of Public Health Laboratories to accommodate business processes that are common to all public health laboratories; encompassing clinical, environmental, newborn screening, and animal testing.

OpenEMed

OpenEMed is a set of distributed health care information service components built around the OMG distributed object specifications, HL7 and other data standards, and is written in Java for platform portability. OpenEMed includes sample implementations of the Person Identification Service, Clinical Observation Access Service, Resource Access Decision, and Terminology Query Service.

OpenMRS

OpenMRS is a community of people working to apply health information technologies to solve problems, primarily in resource-poor environments.  It is  a proud community of developers, implementers, funders, and users all trying to make the world a better place by using our expertise to improve the health and wellness of the planet. OpenMRS is a free, open-source electronic medical record (EMR) system.  All of the core resources that make up the system are open source and freely available. OpenMRS is programmed in Java and the core application works through a web-browser. The back end database is currently in MySQL.
