The VistA Integrated Hospital Information System is built upon an infrastructure of services that unite and enrich the various applications (Radiology, Laboratory, etc.). When armed with an understanding of the infrastructure foundations of VistA, new developers will write better software, new support staff will provide quicker diagnosis and current Application Coordinators can better function as liaisons. This presentation provides a high level overview of the VistA Infrastructure modules. Emphasis is placed on the roles, interactions and the interfaces to these infrastructure modules that form VistA's foundation.

Presented by Greg Kreis

Greg Kreis worked for the Veterans Administration as a programmer and projects manager from 1983-1985. He then implemented VistA systems for two companies before starting Pioneer Data Systems in 1989. He has been offering VistA training at the infrastructure level since 1989, primarily training programmers and support personnel for the VA and other organizations. The training courses cover VistA Kernel, MUMPS and File Manager.
