Institute for e-Health Policy Congressional Luncheon Seminar: Biosurveillance
Plan to attend the lunch briefings of the Capitol Hill “Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare Informatics” on Wednesday, November 16th, from 12:00 – 1:45 pm in Congressional Visitors Center North (CVC 268), we will host a panel and discussion on the use of biosurveillance technologies toward improved public health.
Representatives of RTI International and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will discuss progress on the BioSense program authorized under the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002. BioSense is designed to track health problems as they evolve, providing public health officials with the data, information and tools they need to better prepare for and coordinate responses to safeguard and improve the health of the American people.Honorary Co-Chair of the Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare Informatics, Rep. The session is part of a 2011 series of educational programs on behalf of the Capitol Hill “Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare Informatics.” Ongoing Steering Committee Honorary Co-Chairs include: Senators Kent Conrad (D-ND); Mike Crapo (R-ID); John Thune (R-SD); Tom Udall (D-NM); and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI); along with Representatives Tim Murphy (R-PA); Phil Gingrey (R-GA); Tom Price (R-GA); Eric Cantor (R-VA); and,Allyson Y. Schwartz (D-PA).
Programs are being convened collaboratively by the 19-year-long Capitol Hill “Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare Informatics”, which has convened more than 150 widely attended educational sessions and healthcare technology demonstrations since 1993 for Members of Congress, congressional staff, key federal agency officials, industry professionals and the general public.
