OpenHealth Spain advocates the development of an internet-based integrated clinical management systems. This can be achieved by ensuring that all the data, knowledge and clinical histories/electronic health records (EHR) are compatible, interoperable and transferable.

The clinical process is based on information, since most of the physician's task is to collect data and process it according to their knowledge. Never the less, medical informatics has not evolved the way it should.

One of the key problems that have been identified as a science healtchare is not well formalized. In contrast, other sciences such as chemistry and mathematics have explicit formulas that are the same in all languages. The difficulty of standardizing the medical language is that there are many types of data and many data collectors.
