  • Arun Gupta, vice president and general manager of Open Ecosystem Initiatives at Intel Corporation. An open source strategist, advocate, and practitioner for nearly two decades, Arun has taken companies such as Apple, Amazon, and Sun Microsystems through systemic changes to embrace open source principles by contributing and collaborating effectively.
  • Ken Thompson is an American pioneer of computer science. Thompson worked at Bell Labs for most of his career where he designed and implemented the original Unix operating system. Later at Google, Thompson co-developed the Go programming language.
  • Kitty Yeung, Incubation projects, Microsoft. Dr. Yeung is a physicist, engineer and artist, in addition to her role leading incubation projects at Microsoft. To drive integration between science and art, she also founded a sustainable and STEAM fashion brand, Art by Physicist, and founded the fashion-tech initiative at Microsoft. Prior, Kitty worked as a Senior Quantum Architect at Microsoft Quantum, Manager and Creative Technologist of the Bay Area Microsoft Garage Program.

The abstract of Gupta's keynote presentation outlines a key theme of the conference: "The best way for developers to solve the world’s problems is through an open ecosystem that supports their needs. Open innovation, open platforms and horizontal competition offer choice and build trust. An open ecosystem helps lower complexity and improve productivity, portability, and performance so developers can focus on creating innovative solutions. What challenges could you face to build a business case for consuming and contributing to open source? How do you build that culture of open ecosystem within your company? What tools and techniques can be used to enable developers to contribute effectively to open source? What role does Open Source Program Office play in all this? What is the importance of soft skills to foster this environment? This talk uses personal experience across multiple companies to address these questions and much more."
