VA Issues Draft RFP for Real-Time Location System

The Veterans Affairs Department Dec. 6 issued a draft request for proposal for a real-time location system through FedBizOpps.gov.

According to the FBO posting, RTLS will be used in VA hospitals to support VA Transformation Initiative Health Care Efficiency. During a recent press call, VA Chief Information Officer Roger Baker said RTLS may be used to ensure medical equipment is sterilized. By tagging sterilization equipment and medical tools, RTLS can track the two to make sure they interact prior to a medical procedure.
