The Office of Management and Budget wants agencies to adopt the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace, or NSTIC, to enable shared, citizen identity management across government.
"NSTIC basically orders government to trust a level of assurance across government boundaries," said Federal Chief Information Officer Steven VanRoekel Oct. 11 while speaking at the World Government Summit on Open Source in Washington, D.C.
In employing NSTIC, agencies will adopt a federated identity management model that allows trust relationships across agencies.
