OpenCollab At Open Apereo 2013 Annual Conference In San Diego, USA

Jaco Gillman | OpenCollab | June 20, 2013

On June 2 – 6, Jaco Gillman, software developer at OpenCollab, attended the Open Apereo 2013 Annual Conference, held at the San Diego Westin hotel located the heart of downtown San Diego, CA.

This year’s Conference  was a first for both the Sakai Foundation and Jasig after a merger was formed late December 2012. The name Apereo was very appropriately used for this newly merged Foundation and is a fusion of two Latin words; “aperto” which means “open” and “mereo”, meaning merit.

The Apereo Foundation’s focus for this year was to build the Apereo we all need. With innovation and openness in mind, we want to continue building an organization for collaboration through participation, contributions and shared networks. Topics and projects like Sakai CLE, Sakai OAE, analytics, Student Success Plan (SSP), CAS, integration, Bedework, blended learning, uPortal, security, Project Keitai, uMobile, collaboration, BigBlueButton, Kaltura (just to name a few), were presented.
