The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Office of Acquisition, Logistics, and Construction (OALC) is sponsoring a virtual Reverse Industry Day Briefing via Zoom on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. EST. BookZurman's Gayle Grasso, Director of Business Development, will be featured as a panelist discussing: Request for Proposal (RFPs) / Request for Quote (RFQs) - A Recipe for Success. Gayle, along with fellow industry expert panelists Marc Goldschmitt from Goldschmitt & Associates, Mike Vogel from Perspecta, Diana Bass from Hillrom, and Michelle Williams from VieMed, will address ways in which the industry and the VA can work more closely as partners to improve the RFP/RFQ process; resulting in true transparency, clear requirements, better proposals, enhanced competition, fewer protests and ultimately higher quality contracts to serve our veterans.

20th DoD/VA & GOV Health IT Summit
The 20th Biannual DoD/VA & Government HIT Summit was designed as a "Town Hall" full spectrum view towards the DoD, VA, and Federal's efforts to provide Veterans a secure, interoperable and connected health IT ecosystem. This Summit will examine current initiatives being implemented across the DoD & VA to focus on the needs of Veterans' & active duty. This includes the integration of affordable, high-quality health services as well as innovative technologies that will ultimately, enhance patient care & enable a medically ready Joint Force. For May 2021, DSI will offer both in-person and virtual options for attendees.

openEHR and FHIR – Fiends or Foes? - HIGHmed Symposium 2021
Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for interoperable and scalable data infrastructures within healthcare has become even more apparent. National and regional governments address these challenges by introducing open platforms, a novel paradigm to enable the data flow required to harness the full potential of big data in medicine. To underline the importance of open platforms, and to provide examples of novel implementations to political stakeholders and the health IT community, we dedicate our this year’s HiGHmed Symposium to openEHR and FHIR, the underlying eHealth standards of the data environment of tomorrow.

Presentation on the Catalan Health Care System adoption of openEHR
Catalonia is moving towards a future in which concepts such as patient-centric, data-centric, longitudinal electronic health record, integrated care, open platform, and clinical knowledge management are routine practice. On November 29 representatives of the Catalonian government will be holding a seminar to provide more information on the tender launched to procure a clinical knowledge management platform service according with the openEHR standard.
