OpenVista Live in American Samoa’s LBJ Tropical Medical Center and Department of Health Clinics
Medsphere Systems Corporation, the leading provider of affordable and interoperable healthcare IT platform solutions, today announced that the company’s OpenVista® electronic health record (EHR) is live throughout the American Samoa healthcare system. Specifically, OpenVista is up and running in the LBJ Tropical Medical Center and 13 outpatient clinics run by the American Samoa Medical Center Authority (ASMCA), as well as four of the eight clinics in the American Samoa Department of Health (DOH). The EHR will be rolled out to two additional DOH clinics later this year and two more in the near future.

OSEHRA 2012 Summit A Great Success
The 1st Annual Open Source EHR Summit held this week at the Gaylord National Conference Center at National Harbor, just outside Washington D.C., was well attended by over 400 participants. The event was a huge success and many of the participants openly voiced the belief that this effect will be seen as the tipping point for open source in healthcare. It was "unbelievably cool" according to one of the participants, Todd Park, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for the U.S. Government.

OSEHRA Community Undertakes Long-Elusive Alignment of VistA Code Base
The first Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA) VistA Code Alignment Workshop was held in Oakland, California, November 19-21, 2014. An unprecedented effort, the workshop brought together 27 principal developers of VistA from government and private organizations dedicated to open source solutions for the challenges facing healthcare. The primary objective of the workshop was to achieve compatibility among contributed code within the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA), the EHR software used at approximately 2,500 facilities worldwide. “A VistA code base with a common community-aligned platform will allow an unimpeded exchange of innovations and reduce duplicitous developments among users and developers,” said Dr. Seong K. Petition to have DoD adopt the EHR used by the VA posted on the White House web site
Members of the WorldVistA organization have just posted a petition at the "We The People" White House website asking for President Barack Obama to instruct the Department of Defense (DoD) to quit dragging their feet and adopt the world-renowned electronic health record system (EHR) developed and successfully deployed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) over the past 35 years. PwC Announces Google, Inc. is on the PwC Team Bidding for the Department of Defense Healthcare Management Systems Modernization Program
PwC US today announced Google Inc. is a part of the PwC team in the bid for the Department of Defense (DoD) Healthcare Management Systems Modernization (DHMSM) Electronic Health Record (EHR) contract. The DHMSM program will replace and modernize the Military Health System (MHS), which currently supports more than 9.7 million beneficiaries, including active duty, retirees and their dependents.

PwC Pitches Open-Source Electronic Health Records
One of the entrants in the military's $11 billion electronic health record procurement is proudly flying the open source flag. The group led by PricewaterhouseCoopers includes General Dynamics IT and two open source health record providers whose products are based on the open source Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) -- DSS Inc. and MedSphere.

PwC Submits Bid to DoD for Open Source EHR System
PwC US today submitted its bid for the Department of Defense (DoD) Healthcare Management Systems Modernization (DHMSM) Electronic Health Record (EHR) contract. The proposal, called the Defense Operational Readiness Health System (DORHS), would help modernize the military health system by enabling doctors and healthcare professionals inside and outside of government to more efficiently treat our service members and their families through the creation of a single source for their medical records.

PwC to Offer DoD Open Source EHR
PwC US announced Friday it would put in a bid for the Department of Defense EHR contract, proposing an open source system. Leveraging investments already made by the government into the Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance by merging open source software with commercial applications, PwC plans to combine its healthcare operational and transformation capabilities with commercial EHR vendors DSS and MedSphere, and systems integrator General Dynamics Information Technology.
