OpenMRS & OpenEMR Community Members Join Forces - Announce LibreHealth
Senior contributors and leaders from OpenMRS & OpenEMR, the two leading open source Health IT platforms, have announced the formation of LibreHealth, a new initiative to expand on many years of work by those communities’ volunteers through increased focused on needs of its users in critical areas. After many years of growth under the sponsorship of organizations OEMR & OpenMRS Inc., key members of the two communities have joined forces to launch a successor free & open source software community to fulfill their vision of improved health outcomes around the world.
OpenMRS 2.0 Released-Major Milestone for the Open Source EHR
The OpenMRS community is excited to announce the release of OpenMRS 2.0. [This] release brings a new focus to OpenMRS. Instead of just releasing a generic enterprise-grade platform and leaving it up to each implementation to configure, OpenMRS 2.0 includes more functionality “out of the box” that should help you be more productive, faster...OpenMRS 2.0 features a completely new and modern user interface, built from scratch to be much more user friendly. Editor’s Note: Starting in 2013, we will be highlighting an OpenMRS contributor every month, giving you the opportunity to learn more about the people building the OpenMRS software and community. More information about the Contributor of the Month program is available on the OpenMRS wiki...Saptarshi Purkayastha is from Mumbai, India and currently lives in Norway for work. He is a Research Fellow at the Department of Computer & Information Science, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, where he is enrolled in the PhD program and works as a researcher in the domain of Health Information Systems for developing countries. His research group is the HISP Project at the University of Oslo, so Saptarshi spends most of his time there. OpenMRS Worldwide Summit 2015
OpenMRS Inc., the non-profit organization supporting the OpenMRS community, is hosting a new annual global gathering of contributors called OpenMRS Worldwide Summit, focused on building and growing both our community and our software. While our OpenMRS Implementers Meetings will continue to bring together OpenMRS implementers & health care professionals to focus on how OpenMRS is used, the annual Worldwide Summit will bring together OpenMRS people of all types, and will offer them opportunities to share their work, as well as discuss how software will evolve in the coming year. The first OpenMRS Summit is happening 8-14 December 2015 in Singapore. Read on for more information about the schedule and logistics.
