110-Bed private nursing home calls on Napier Healthcare to automate its entire elderly care provider operations, increase efficiency and improve resident satisfaction

Singapore, November 17, 2014 - Napier Healthcare, a leading healthcare technology and services provider today announced that Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home has embarked on an implementation of its Napier Nursing Home Solution to standardize operations and improve workflows, with the aim to enhance employee productivity, operation efficiency and resident-care provider communications.

Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home, a family-run nursing home established in the mid-1960s, caters to 110 needy and sick who are unable to care for themselves or cannot be cared for in their own homes. The heart of their service lies in staying true to the philosophy of providing affordable and personalized eldercare for the residents. The nursing home was looking for an end-to-end solution that will not only streamline key operations throughout the care provider environment, but it also required that the new solution meets the standards of an open source infrastructure so that the current system can be seamlessly integrated with medical devices and other equipment.

“Our mission is to keep our fees at least 30 per cent lower than the market and to make our services more accessible to lower income families. The reality is that several parts of a typical nursing home operation can be labour intensive, heavy in paper work and time consuming, often stretching resources thin in the face of rising costs. We saw potential in the solution to reap savings in time, resources and improve employee productivity by automating clinical and non-clinical processes. In doing so, we hope the cost-savings will be passed on to the end users who are the residents and their families,” said Mr Then Kim Yuan, Administrator, Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home. He added that this was also in line with the trend in Singapore to boost productivity across the healthcare sector and cited the recent Productivity & Innovation Credit (PIC) support as a timely measure.

The Napier Nursing Home Solution would cover both Clinical and Non-Clinical Modules with a view to increase productivity, reduce medical errors and assist in other areas such as record management and documentation.

The Napier Nursing Home Solution enables real-time retrieval and update of records and data, so that doctors, nurses and employees at Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home can have complete visibility and access to clinical information as well as resident assessments within the nursing home and beyond the premises. Following the implementation, the nursing home would be able to standardize all their processes, improve operational efficiency and service levels, and enhance its overall ability to deliver better resident care.

“We believe there is at least a 30 per cent gain in productivity with the improved communication amongst staff, residents and their family members. Simply going paperless for billing, to name one example, increases productivity for several personnel involved. More importantly, we can reduce medical errors. The on-demand report generation and administrative modules allow for even better planning and informed decision-making within our organisation,” said Then Kim Yuan. “There is also room for more operational improvements given how scalable and robust the system is today. These operational efficiencies will lead the nursing home towards a more humanistic, holistic and multi-dimensional care.”

“Nursing Homes are concerned with rising operating costs and evolving government requirements and regulations. The size of an elderly care operation should not limit its ability and flexibility to apply innovative technology solutions to stay competitive. Napier Healthcare’s Cloud-based and open source solutions are scalable, interoperable and modular. Care providers prefer the ease of deployment and lowered operational costs in additional to operational efficiency. Quality healthcare can be rendered more easily and in a more transparent and cost-effective manner,” said Tirupathi Karthik, CEO of Napier Healthcare.
