OSEHRA Debuts 2015 Innovation Webinar Series

Arlington, VA – The Open Source Electronic Health Record Alliance (OSEHRA) is excited to announce confirmed speakers for the Innovation Webinar Series, an engaging and free online event hosted monthly by OSEHRA, its members, and those on the forefront of open source.

Upcoming webinars in the series include:

  • Improving Patient Care and Hospital bottom lines using VistA: Bob Wentz, CEO of Oroville Hospital, will explain the financial factors that led to the implementation of VistA in the 154-bed Oroville Hospital, as well as at 17 of the 20 clinics owned by the hospital.  As a result, VistA is being used by almost 1,200 general users, more than 400 physicians, as well as more than 60 nurse practitioners and physician assistants.  Hosted on January 20, 2015 at 3:00PM EST.
  • OSEHRA Software Quality Certification: Mike Henderson, the OSEHRA Director of Open Source Product Management, will discuss how OSEHRA Certification raises the profile of code submissions, identifies them as priorities for OSEHRA intake, and ensures they are functional and suitable for inclusion.  Further, he will describe the aspects of code that are reviewed and the mechanics of performing the review process.  Hosted on February 17, 2015 at 3:00PM EST.
  • VistA Mobile Health: Wyatt Smith, CEO of AbleVets, will clarify how VA Mobile Health Apps provide health information monitoring and allow patients to connect with their data in VistA.  He will also provide an overview of VA’s current and planned mobile apps.  Hosted on March 17, 2015 at 3:00PM EST.
  • popHealth®: Dr. James Bush, State of Wyoming Medicaid Medical Officer, will introduce popHealth, the open source software that integrates with EHRs and automates the reporting of meaningful use quality measures and is now hosted by OSEHRA.  Also, he will demonstrate how popHealth provides actionable clinical information and performance monitoring across providers.  Hosted on April 21, 2015 at 3:00PM EST.

Additionally, the OSEHRA Architecture Work Group is hosting an upcoming webinar:

  • Deep Dive on Enterprise Health Management Platform (eHMP): Carl Gray, Project Manager at ASM Research, will note how the eHMP project within the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology (VistA) Evolution program will introduce expanded capabilities and modernize existing features of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) VistA Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. This platform includes VistA Exchange, the eHMP Clinical Practice Environment (CPE), and particular clinical knowledge enrichment and decision support services.  Hosted on February 24, 2015 at 4:00PM EST.
