What EHR Vendors Need To Know About Applying For Upcoming DoD Demos

Nothing like a tight turnaround on a massive tech and consulting project: The DoD on Friday published a notice — albeit neither solicitation nor RFP — revealing that during the week after next it will hold demonstrations essentially courting the EHR to replace its AHLTA. Oh, yes, and applications are due end of October 9, as in tomorrow.

The department has said it is moving off of it legacy EHR, known in long form as Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application, and intends to evaluate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) programs, as well as open source options including the VA’s VistA.

And while Friday’s notice hardly left vendors amply time to gear up, here is what department officials wrote it requires in terms of applications and then the demonstrations itself:
