Cerner, Intermountain Partner To Propose Clinical Approach For DoD

Cerner has struck a deal with health system Intermountain Healthcare to beef up the Leidos Partnership for Defense Health with added clinical governance of solutions and workflow.  The Leidos Partnership, which includes Accenture, Cerner and a group of domain experts in military health is pitching the Department of Defense's Healthcare Management System Modernization initiative. The DHMSM contract, which is being fought for by dozens of giant health IT and consulting firms, could generate $11 billion.
As part of its efforts, Intermountain will serve a key role in developing Cerner's advisory and governance structures and will support Cerner's participation in DHMSM from deployment to clinical systems architectures.

The tension is rising as giant organizations gear up their guns to fight for the DHMSM. In addition to the Leidos group, competitors for the prize include PricewaterhouseCoopers and partners, an IBM and EMR vendor Epic partnership and a team that includes Computer Sciences Corp., Hewlett Packard and EMR developer Allscripts.The financial stakes are about as high as a health IT contract can be...
