OpenEMR Achieves Complete Meaningful Use Certification with Release 5.0
OpenEMR, the most popular open source electronic health records (EHR) and medical practice management solution, has announced today that OpenEMR version 5.0 has achieved Complete ONC certification, through Infogard. This certification is vital for medical practices in the U.S. to comply with MACRA and participate in Medicare's Quality Payment Program. The Complete Meaningful Use Certification was the result of a community effort that spanned several years, involving over $200,000 in effort and code contributions. Read More »

OpenEMR Android app now on Google Play
If you are an OpenEMR user, you may be interested to know that the developers of the Android app have now pushed it to Google Play. It’s still in beta development but usable, though the authors caution that it’s “not yet recommended for regular use in a working medical environment.” If you are an Android user you can download and try it out – it has it’s own demo OpenEMR server.

OpenEMR Consortium Proposes Open Source EHR Solution to U.S. Coast Guard
According to a recent Request for Information from the United States Coast Guard (USCG), the maritime branch of the U.S. Armed Forces is conducting market research of sources capable of providing a computerized, integrated Electronic Health Record solution for replacement of the USCG manual paper health records at 114 ashore sites (clinics and sick bays) and 62 afloat sick bays. The requested scope of the EHR by USCG is broad and includes primary care, urgent care, counseling, occupational health, and dental care.
