DoD/VA iEHR Award Winners Announced
Defense Strategies Institute is pleased to announce the 2013 award winners at the DoD/VA iEHR Summit which took place September 30-October 1 in Washington, DC at the Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square.
Washington, DC, October 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The DSI iEHR & HIE Awards Ceremony recognize significant contributions and achievements of those who have employed innovative concepts in health IT to enhance the quality of healthcare throughout DoD & VA. DSI recognizes people and organizations who have exemplified EHR modernization capabilities in data federation, presentation, and interoperability.
DSI Is pleased to announce the following award winners:
Award: Best in Clinical Aims for the iEHR: Schmitt Thompson Clinical Content
Schmitt Thompson Clinical Content has contributed significantly towards clinical aims for the iEHR through its exceptional work using Electronic Telephone Triage Protocols w/ AHLTA for the future vision of an iEHR.
Award: Innovation at the Edge: Best Implementation in Mobile Healthcare Achievement Award: Qbase, LLC
Qbase LLC, through its Homeless REACH mobile application, has made a substantial impact in our ability to care for homeless veterans. Accessible on the web, smart phones and tablet devices, Qbase Homeless REACH is a flexible application that will enable case workers and other social support staff who care for the homeless to quickly and easily find essential services such as shelters, soup kitchens, and VA hospitals, all within their immediate proximity.
Award: Clinical Health Champion Award: Dr. Frank A. Maldonado, Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center
In his 20 plus years of federal service, Dr. Maldonado has exemplified the roles of caregiver, innovator, and leader. In addition to his continued clinical work with patients, Dr. Maldonado was intimately involved in the implementation of the Electronic Health Record, iEHR initiative. Additionally, Dr. Maldonado’s valuable contribution helped to stand up the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center, the first of its kind in the Nation. Through dedication and effort, he worked to help integrate DoD and VA to create this first ever Federal Health Care Center, which is leading the way for federal health care by providing a quality, patient-centered experience and ensuring the highest level of operational medical readiness. Dr. Maldonado’s involvement to create the future of federal health care, a model for interagency cooperation and improved healthcare for service members and veterans makes him this year’s Clinical Health Champion.
