VistA Expo 2011
The much anticipated VISTAExpo & Symposium 2011 conference has just issued a call for papers as well as trainers for their educational tracks and tutorial sessions. VISTAExpo is a four-day conference for activists and members of the VistA ecosystem, current users as well as potential adopters. It will be held from November 17-20 in Redmond, Washington. Papers and presentations are due by September 15. The conference organizers are looking for presenters on topics related to one of their four tracks as well as experienced VistA trainers to give tutorials for a large number of VistA “newbies” and potential users who are expected to attend. VISTAExpo is being organized primarily by the VISTA Expertise Network.

OSEHRA Development Tools Webinar
The Open Source Electronic Health Record Agent (OSEHRA) will start a weekly teleconference to discuss the current set of OSEHRA software development tools on Wednesday, November 16 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm EST. Institute for e-Health Policy Congressional Luncheon Seminar: Biosurveillance
Plan to attend the lunch briefing of the Capitol Hill “Steering Committee on Telehealth and Healthcare Informatics” on Wednesday, November 16th, from 12:00 – 1:45 pm in Congressional Visitors Center North (CVC 268), we will host a panel and discussion on the use of biosurveillance technologies toward improved public health.
Representatives of RTI International and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will discuss progress on the BioSense program authorized under the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002. Implementing Adaptive Clinical Trials
With the ever rising cost and complexity of clinical trials, adaptive design is a promising solution highly regarded by both pharmaceutical companies and regulatory agencies. It promotes cost reduction whilst improving overall efficiency. OHT Holds PIP Project Webinar, Munnecke to Speak
Open Health Tools (OHT) will hold the first of its technical webinars Nov. 7 at 10:00 AM EST. OHT will be looking at the Platform Implementation Project (PIP). PIP is a meta-project that has stitched together several OHT projects.
The PIP project will be demonstrated as an example of how an ecosystem gets formed. Members of the PIP team will discuss their involvement with the project and how it aligns with their organization’s for-profit business requirements.
In addition, Tom Munnecke will join the webinar and share his insights with the group. Tom is one of the world’s leading experts in health information technology, having been a lead software designer on two of the largest electronic health record systems: Veteran’s Administration’s VistA and Department of Defense’s Composite Health Care System.
