Group Seeks to Increase Awareness of Open Source
Open source software is something that federal agencies can use more often to meet their goals. That's according to the founders of a new group called Open Source for America. Tom Rabon is Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs for Red Hat. On Thursday's Daily Debrief, he talked more about why federal agencies should increasingly look at open source as a viable option.
"Open source is really a different way to approach solving problems and I think it's important in the context of what this organization is all about and what we're trying to do with the government. When you talk about open source in general is . . . the collective wisdom of lots of people may very well be a better way to solve problems than just what me as an individual or you as an individual think."
