Open Source Developers' Conference 2015
The Open Source Developers' Conference is a not-for-profit conference covering all aspects of Open Source Technology, from software and systems to open data. For the past 11 years OSDC has been held across Australia and New Zealand, and in 2015 will be hosted for the first time in Tasmania, from October 27-29 at the Wrest Point Convention Centre in Hobart. The focus for OSDC 2015 is Opening Up For A Better World. Open source software, hardware and standards facilitate higher quality technology, better security and faster innovation; open data allows us to better discover and understand the world we live in; open government aims to ensure that citizens can participate in their democracy; open access publishing exists to spread knowledge and allow that knowledge to be built upon. Open by design is the best default.

Making Open Innovation Ecosystems Work
The IBM Center for The Business of Government is a successful advocate for the improvement of the effectiveness of government business that focuses on the future of operation and management. Recently, the center published a scholarly work comprised of case studies in healthcare entitled “Making Open Innovation Ecosystems Work.” It was written by a team of distinguished academics including Donald E. Wynn, Jr., Ph.D., Renee M.E. Pratt, Ph.D., and Randy V. Bradley, Ph.D., and OSEHRA was one of two cases chosen for analysis.

HHS IDEA Lab Innovation Day
The Office of the Chief Technology Officer is holding its HHS Innovation Day on May 15th, 2017 at the Hubert Humphrey Building in the Great Hall from 9:00am-3:00pm. The day will feature presentations from teams across HHS who are using entrepreneurial methods like design thinking and lean startup to improve how their office or agency delivers on the HHS mission.
