DoD Awards Contract To Improve Theater EHR AHLTA
The Department of Defense (DOD) is investing significantly in enhancements to its Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application-Theater (AHLTA -T), according to BusinessWire. Evolvent Technology, a subsidiary of ManTech International Corporation is the recipient of a contract comprising a one-year performance period and two option years valued at $20.5. The company will develop and support code optimization, database conversion, code upgrades, and additional new features for the AHLTA-T system.
A configuration of AHLTA, AHLTA-T provides many of the same functionality of the DoD EHR system though it is a tool specifically designed for applications in the field of combat (i.e., theater). According to the Military Health System (MHS), the theater version can operate on laptops or be hosted on client servers; moreover, it supports clinical documentation with or without a network connection by storing information in a local database until an internet connection is establish. Once connected, these data are automatically transmitted to the central database, Theater Medical Data Store.
