Colleagues, Do I detect momentum? In recent months we have witnessed;

  1. The DoD MEDICS RFI in which 3 to 4 VistA based solutions appear to viable procurement options ...
  2. The United Kingdom announce a multimillion dollar commitment to fund VistA pilots in the British National Health Service (NHS) ...
  3. The declaration by the CIO of the Tennessee Department of Health that they intend to pursue a statewide VistA procurement ...
  4. Peter Groen's OSEHRA Summit presentation documenting an installed base of over 2,000 global VistA implementations ...
  5. The recent Fortune 100 company approach to OSEHRA seeking corporate partners to compete for international Health IT contracts ...
  6. The CGI/DSS announcment that they have won a $48.7 million contract to implement the Empire State VistA program ...

Are all these occurences, taking place in a 6 month span, mere coincidence?  Or, do they portend an important market opening for lower cost, stable, and proven Open Source offerings?

I think the latter!   What do you think?
