PokitDok Achieves EHNAC Cloud-Enabled and Outsourced Services Accreditation for Health Information Exchange
SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PokitDok, a software development platform for the business of healthcare, announced today it has achieved full accreditation with the Outsourced Services Accreditation Program (OSAP) for Health Information Exchange (HIE) and the Cloud-Enabled Accreditation Program (CEAP) from the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC).
“Information technology in the cloud – especially in the healthcare industry, which involves valuable protected health information (PHI) – presents a critically unique set of privacy and security challenges when it comes to healthcare data exchange,” said Lee Barrett, executive director of EHNAC. “Organizations such as PokitDok are leading the movement toward ensuring superior capabilities in the areas of privacy, security and standards by seeking to further demonstrate their commitment to these security measures above and beyond.”
EHNAC’s OSAP accreditation recognizes excellence in health data processing and transactions, and ensures compliance with industry-established standards and HIPAA regulations. Through the consultative review process, EHNAC evaluated PokitDok in areas of privacy and security, technical performance, business practices and organizational resources as it relates to outsourcing policies and procedures. In addition, EHNAC reviewed PokitDok’s process of managing and transferring protected health information and determined that PokitDok meets all EHNAC criteria and industry standards. Through completion of the rigorous accreditation process, PokitDok demonstrates adherence to strict standards and participation in the comprehensive, objective evaluation of its business.
CEAP is offered exclusively for the users of FedRAMP-certified Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) – regardless of the healthcare data exchange model the CSP supports. EHNAC assessed PokitDok’s health information and oversight for meeting privacy and security, HIPAA, HITECH, Omnibus Rule and ACA requirements, as well as technical performance, business processes and resource management. The comprehensive CEAP program requires 74 unique criteria to be met by applying organizations, as well as additional coordination with the organization’s CSP.
“Outsourcing of various services has become a large and growing need for healthcare organizations that seek to create operational efficiencies and reduce costs. But privacy, security and confidentiality of PHI continues to be a crucial requirement for all associated business partners,” continued Mr. Barrett. “To be classified amongst the EHNAC OSAP-accredited organizations, PokitDok has met a high standard in these areas as it relates to consent, authorization, authentication, access and audit procedures and therefore establishes themselves among an elite group of trustworthy partners.”
“EHNAC is a leading authority for developing operational and security standards in the healthcare industry," said Lisa Maki, co-founder and CEO, PokitDok. “The burden is lifted for our customers as they look to adopt cloud-based technologies to deliver digital health experiences with operational efficiency. They have the confidence that we meet rigorous security, compliance and regulatory requirements and that we’re certified as a trusted steward of health information.”
